Dr. He is a patent agent in the firm's Biotechnology/Chemical Group, where he assists in the formulation of invalidity, non-infringement, patentability, freedom-to-operate, and clearance opinions; aids in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications; and provides litigation support. His technical areas of expertise include synthetic organic chemistry, API salt selection and polymorph screening, isolation and structural elucidation of active ingredients from plants and corresponding application in consumer products.

Prior to joining Sterne Kessler, Dr. He was a Senior Process Chemist in an international pharmaceutical company where he conducted research in the development of efficient, safe, and cost effective route of API production, including multistep synthesis, scale up of lab synthesis to GMP production, and selection of suitable salt and polymorph for APIs.

Dr. He was a NIH postdoctoral fellow with Professor Amos Smith at the University of Pennsylvania where he completed total synthesis of revised structure of lituarine C, a natural product showing significant cytotoxicity toward KB cells, and investigated the total synthesis of (+)-neopeltolide exploiting the intramolecular Petasis-Ferrier union/rearrangement strategy.

Dr. He's graduate research under Professor Jeffrey Bode involved investigations on a variety of NHC-catalyzed, highly enantioselective organic transformations for preparation of heterocyclic compounds under mild conditions, and completion of formal synthesis of (±)-clausenamide, a neuroprotective natural product.
