Carla Ji-Eun Kim



Carla Ji-Eun Kim is a director in the Biotechnology/Chemical Practice Group. She focuses primarily on preparing and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications in the areas of biotechnology such as pharmaceuticals, vaccines, diagnostics, cancer therapeutics, gene therapy, and antibodies.  She also has extensive experience in freedom to operate studies on biologics and  manufacturing process and prepares patentability, infringement and validity opinions.  She is an Adjunct Professor at George Mason University School of Law.  Ms. Kim received her J.D cum laude and an M.S. in Pharmacology from the University of Minnesota, along with an M.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in Biology from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point, where she graduated magna cum laude.

Ms. Kim's graduate research focused on molecular genetic mechanisms of DNA repair in mammalian cancer cells and developing an anti-angiogenic approach to cancer therapy and treatment.
