Mr. Ritterbeck is an associate in the Litigation Group and concentrates his practice in the area of patent litigation, including matters before federal district courts and the United States International Trade Commission. He has represented clients in a variety of fields, including Hatch-Waxman Paragraph IV pharmaceuticals, chemical arts, mechanical arts, biotechnology, virtual try-on technology, and data backup and replication technology.

Mr. Ritterbeck has a broad range of litigation experiences including conducting pre-suit investigations, developing litigation strategies, formulating claim construction positions, conducting fact and expert discovery, performing infringement and validity analyses, drafting dispositive and non-dispositive motions, taking and defending depositions, working with expert witnesses and preparing expert reports, preparing witnesses for depositions and trial, attending hearing and trial, as well as developing licensing and settlement strategies and drafting agreements regarding the same.

Mr.Ritterbeck is also a contributing author of Patent Office Litigation, Second Edition, published in 2017 by Thomson Reuters Westlaw, the book provides a fresh and comprehensive exploration of patent office litigation proceedings, including how the proceedings interact with other aspects of patent procurement and enforcement, while delivering practical analysis and advice.

While attending law school, Mr. Ritterbeck served for one year as a student law clerk to the Honorable Gregory M. Sleet, United States District Judge, District of Delaware. He also served as a Senior Staff Member of the Delaware Journal of Corporate Law, president of the Intellectual Property Society, and was awarded the Bruce & Elizabeth Monroe Intellectual Property Scholarship for his leadership and achievements relating to the study of intellectual property law.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Ritterbeck worked as an analytical chemist for Noramco Inc., a Janssen Pharmaceutical Company of Johnson & Johnson. While conducting his undergraduate studies, Mr. Ritterbeck was awarded the Temple University Diamond Research Scholarship in chemistry and worked for Dr. Eric Borguet’s Research Group, focusing his work on the surface chemistry of carbon nanotubes.
