Tyler Dutton is an associate in the Electronics Group. His practice focuses on inter partes review proceedings and patent prosecution, and his technical background includes communications, MEMS devices, graphics processing, semiconductors, and digital healthcare.

Tyler is also a contributing author of Patent Office Litigation, Second Edition, published in 2017 by Thomson Reuters Westlaw, the book provides a fresh and comprehensive exploration of patent office litigation proceedings, including how the proceedings interact with other aspects of patent procurement and enforcement, while delivering practical analysis and advice.

Tyler received his J.D., with honors, from Emory University School of Law, where he was a managing editor for the Emory International Law Review. During law school, Tyler worked as an extern in the global patents group of a Fortune 100 company, gaining valuable experience in patent portfolio management, freedom to operate opinions, and the needs of in-house counsel. He also worked with the Emory Law Volunteer Clinic for Veterans, co-authoring an amici curiae brief to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Also during law school, Tyler completed Georgia Tech’s TI:GER (Technological Innovation: Generating Economic Results) program, where he conducted IP and commercialization strategies for start-up companies. While in the program, Tyler worked with multidisciplinary teams on technologies ranging from autonomous robot navigation, Android app development, and nanoparticles. Tyler was part of a team that won two start-up competitions and pitched to a top venture capital firm in Silicon Valley.

Tyler is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia and in Massachusetts.
