Dr. Gao is a Student Associate in the Electronics Group, where he assists in the preparation and prosecution of U.S. patent applications. His technical areas of expertise include superconducting integrated circuits, semiconductor devices, thin film growth/characterization, microfabrication techniques, and cryogenic systems.

Dr. Gao's doctoral research focused on low-loss superconducting quantum bits. He was directly involved with designing and fabricating Josephson phase qubits incorporating crystalline silicon nanomembrane, superconducting through-silicon vias, and microwave resonators with low-loss dielectrics. He also has seven years of microfabrication experience, including hands-on experience with photolithography, plasma deposition/etching, and thin film/metal deposition.

Dr. Gao is a member of American Physical Society and IEEE.
